Website design and build
Challenge
Gilkes Energy helps landowners and farmers in Scotland develop and finance hydropower schemes. They are a subsidiary of Gilbert Gilkes & Gordon Ltd, who design and manufacture hydropower plants on a much larger scale. Gilkes Energy came to Consider for a website which would increase awareness of their brand and get them placed above the fold in search engine results listings.
Solution
Gilkes Energy had only been founded in 2008 and lacked any kind of online presence. So we had to design and build a new website from scratch.
“All we really had to start with was a logo and a product,” says Consider’s Digital Director Ben Leeves. “We focused on the idea of renewable energy and created a look and feel for the website which was clean, simple and flowing. The finished creative sits well on its own outside the parent brand and also has a big inspirational pull for potential clients.”
We built the site on the back of Consider CMS, our open-source content management system, which was adapted to give the client full control over their content. We ensured that news items and case studies were simple to edit and that online information was always easy for users to find.
To further support all this activity, we created Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) tools for the client which enabled them to stay better connected with their various audiences.
Results
As a result of our work, Gilkes Energy ranked number one on Google for their preferred search term within only five weeks.
