Event website and social media campaign for London Business School

Event website and social media campaign

Challenge

London Business School had an opportunity to host an event run by TED, one of the most highly regarded thought-leadership organisations in the world. They needed to promote this TEDx event online quickly and cost-effectively. They were confident we could do it (based on our track record with the School over the past eight years).

Solution

The planned TEDx event was based on the theme of the innovations and radical breakthroughs that often result from disruptive change. So we thought it entirely appropriate to build an online campaign around the powerful viral effects which can be delivered by social media.

“The Facebook ‘Like’ button and ReTweet button are readymade campaign tools,” says Ben Leeves, Consider’s Digital Creative Director. “They can get a message out for a business which builds exponentially in a very short time. They’re also incredibly cost-effective. The fit with the brief was perfect.”

We created a website that strikingly expressed the event’s theme, while making all relevant information easily accessible. By building the website on Consider CMS, our open-source content management system, it also became easy to edit and update content behind the scenes.

We enabled people to register their interest on the website, so the London Business School could email them just before tickets went live. And we embedded the site within Google Analytics, so the TEDx team could see for themselves how well it was doing.

Result

Our campaign stimulated 350 people to register on the website. Once tickets went live, they sold out within 36 hours.

London Business School now have an online platform which will work just as well for future events. Nice to hear they’re already planning their next TEDx.
