Imperial College asked us to develop a compelling printed brochure, communicating and celebrating its status and reinforcing their brand, as one of the world’s leading universities.
The publication needed to function in a variety of contexts - from overseas trips by senior leaders to major events at the College and to generate funds. The audience spanned alumni, friends and supporters (including current and potential donors) and partners from research and industry fields.
The content needed to balance the College’s heritage and its role as a world leader in cutting-edge research.
The brief was to produce a premium piece, presented with elegance, clarity and confidence. We were asked to explore a relatively small format and to look at innovative print finishes and formats.
The brochure needed to position the College as strong and confident, whose students are transforming the future from firm foundations rooted in the past.
The finished piece was striking, with a square format and shortfall pages interspersed throughout - featuring text and quotes from significant alumni and faculty members. The full-sized pages used full-bleed photographs to showcase the college’s achievements. By combining the two, the reader could see arresting photographs at all times, while they read the narrative that leads them through, signposted with clear, concise and confident headlines.
We also added a new brand colour of bronze - for its premium feel - throughout; while the thoughtful use of photography and typography contribute to the polished feel, the audience expects.
The report was very well-received. The College President is using it as a tool on international visits, with potential donors and with friends of the Colleges and import alumni.
